New York Times: Create an Account

This guide will walk you through the process for creating your New York Times Online account and show you how to use the added features.

Create an Account

To access your Academic Pass to NYTimes.com:

  1. Go to the NYT Group Pass site.
  2. Create a free NYTimes.com account using your UH email (johndoe@hawaii.edu) address.
  3. You will receive an email in order to confirm your pass.
  4. You have successfully claimed a Pass when you see the Start Your Access screen
  5. Enjoy seamless full access to NYTimes.com and NYT mobile apps by just logging into your NYTimes.com account from any location, on or off-campus.
  6. Visit www.NYTimes.com/Mobile from an iPad, tablet or smartphone’s web browser to download and log into the NYT app.

Troubleshooting

Pass Expiration

NYTimes.com accounts expire after one year. If you are receiving a message that you have reached your monthly limit (access to articles), please go to myaccount.nytimes.com/grouppass and log in. You should receive a message that your account has been renewed and the new subscription date. You can also check NYTimes.com Academic Passes Troubleshooting Guide for more help. Sync an Existing Account

If you already have an NYT.com account or for some reason you're not able to log in to your account, use the Forgot Password link to reset your account and sync it with your existing account. After clicking the Forget Password link you will receive an email from the New York Times with a link to reset your password.
