Leeward CC: An ʻĀina-based research guide: Home

ʻĀina-based Learning at Leeward CC

This guide serves as an accompanying resource to the ʻĀina-based educational video for Leeward Community College, called:  "Puʻuloa: A Sense of Place." In the video we learned a little bit about the history, moʻolelo, and the community stakeholders associated with the Puʻuloa area, home to the Leeward CC flagship campus.  We hope that the video serves as an inspiration for instructors to incorporate ʻĀina-based components into the curriculum of any and all courses here at Leeward CC. Additionally, you can also utilize the "Secrets of Puʻuloa" story map, an ArcGIS map tool that serves as an interactive platform that allows your to familiarize yourself with the stories of the area at your own pace. This guide can be a tool to help you achieve that goal, no matter what your subject matter.  In the first tab you will find resources regarding Āina-Based education across the Pae ʻĀina o Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian Archipelago).  The subsequent tabs of this guide, are filled with resources that will help you research of place here in Hawaiʻi, as well as the areas of Puʻuloa -- in the Moku of ʻEwa and Waiʻanae-- home to our education center. If you need any assistance in using this guide or have suggestions for resources that could be added, please reach out to me by using the "Email Me" button in the "Hawaiʻi- Pacific Resources LIbrarian" box.
