Capstone Interactive Library Provides access to dozens of interactive ebooks designed to help users of all ages learn reading skills.
Credo Reference Provides full-text online versions of 800 published reference works in a variety of major subjects. These include general and subject dictionaries as well as encyclopedias.
Ebook Central Collection of electronic books covering a wide range of subject areas. All books may be read online. Certain titles may also be read offline by downloading Adobe Digital Editions.
EBSCOhost eBook Collection Search and view the full text of over 80,000 eBooks.

EBSCOhost Public Library Collection

Collection of electronic books that features fiction and nonfiction titles for adults and juveniles as well as a wide range of subjects and topics to meet research and recreational needs.
Gale Virtual Reference Library An electronic bookshelf of reference books published by Gale.
OverDrive General interest non-fiction and fiction titles along with titles supporting select Leeward classes. View Course Reserves Titles under Featured Collections for course-specific titles.
Safari Books Online Technology, digital media, and business e-books.
Ulukau: The Hawaiian Electronic Library A digitized collection of dictionaries, books, newspapers, genealogical indexes, and curriculum resources in the Hawaiian and English languages.

ENCYCLOPEDIAS

Credo Reference Provides full-text online versions of 800 published reference works in a variety of major subjects. These include general and subject dictionaries as well as encyclopedias.
Encyclopædia Britannica Online Online version of the classic encyclopedia.

Find Periodicals (newspapers, magazines, journals)

Periodicals are a good source for current information, because they are typically published more quickly than books.

Finding Periodical Articles

Online research databases let you search for periodical articles from many thousands of publications. General-coverage databases like Academic Search Complete and MasterFile Complete (both from EBSCOhost) cover a wide range of topics. Specialized databases focus on specific fields like science, health, and education. The ProQuest US West Newsstream database covers the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, which is often your best source for current information about local topics.

Electronic Periodicals

Articles from thousands of publications are available from our research databases and other sources, and we have direct subscriptions to online periodicals . To see if we have full-text content from a particular publication, search the SFX electronic periodicals list.

Print Periodicals

The Library has approximately 80 subscriptions to a wide variety of printed periodical publications. Print periodicals are located next to the Reference Collection on the 3rd floor.

Flipster

Flipster is a platform for magazines which provides an optimal online reading experience from a tablet or computer.  Leeward currently subscribes to two dozen titles with more to come in the near future.

Streaming Video Collections

Academic Video Online AVON provides access to more than 64,000 videos covering a wide range of subject areas.
Ethnographic Video Online Volume III, Indigenous Voices.  Contains over 1,300 hours of streaming video for the study of human culture, behavior, and society around the world.
Films on Demand Educational films and documentaries from U.S. and international producers.  The Library provides access to over 4,000 titles.  
JoVE Science Education A database of video demonstrations on laboratory techniques, experiment design, concepts & theories, and more. Our subscription provides access to biology and chemistry content.
Kanopy Kanopy is an on-demand video streaming service for educational institutions providing students and faculty with access to thousands of films.  Includes titles from award-winning producers from PBS, BBC, Criterion Collection, and more.
